Borgo Celano, San Marco in Lamis and the 'Fracchie'

In the heart of the Gargano, along the Via Francigena, San Marco in Lamis owes its origin to the presence of the Monastery of San Matteo. A town rich in traditions, it is known for the procession of ' fracchie ' on Good Friday: a religious event that is unique in its kind.
Thanks to its strategic position, San Marco is intertwined between spirituality and nature, thanks to the presence of the ' Spontaneous Orchids ', unique and rare specimens all over the world, among these was found in May 2017 the beautiful Monkey Orchid, its name Orchis simia is scientific , for the flowers that resemble monkeys.

The Dinosaur Park

The dinosaur park in Borgo Celano is located on about 21,000 square meters. Along the path of about 2400 meters, together with the real dinosaur footprints, a place where you can immerse yourself in the past through the current structures and technologies of the Gargano National Park; an interactive path inside the museum, to dive into a time and space that is millions of years away.
A journey through time for adults and children through a thematic itinerary thanks to the possibility of admiring and listening to life-size dinosaurs, the real dinosaur footprints on stone blocks, the paleontological museum with 3D room, the botanical garden, and the "Visitor Center on Carsism" with the visit in the reconstruction of a cave environment, all to live an unforgettable experience.

Sanctuary of St. Matthew the Apostle

About a kilometer from the Hotel Rossemi, on the ancient "Via Sacra Langobardorum", on the slopes of Mount Celano (871 m) stands the Franciscan monastery of San Matteo . It is one of the oldest and most renowned shrines of the Gargano. Today a Franciscan convent, it was founded by the Benedictines with the name of San Giovanni in Lamis and so it is remembered in many medieval documents. Known for its ancient library, with over 70 thousand volumes including 10 incunabula, 200 from the sixteenth century and around 1,000 from the sixteenth century.

S. Giovanni Rotondo: Near the Shrine of Padre Pio and the 'Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza' Hospital

Just 4 minutes from the Hotel Rossemi, we find San Giovanni Rotondo known throughout the world for the veneration of the remains of San Pio da Pietrelcina, a Capuchin friar, who lived for about 50 years in the Gargano town.
At the service of the church, he was responsible for the creation of the Prayer Groups and for the realization of charitable works, first of all the "Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza" Hospital which stands near the two churches dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie , where he lived and Padre Pio worked, and the new church completed in 2004.

Monte Sant'Angelo

Monte Sant'Angelo is known throughout the world for its religious history, Saints, emperors, popes, kings or simple believers have come this far to kneel before the altar of the Archangel Michael.
The Sanctuary of San Michele is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a precious example of Lombard art in Italy. A stairway carved into the rock leads into the Sacred Grotto , the mystical place of the apparition of the Archangel, the destination of a constant flow of pilgrims.
The breath of history is still alive among the Norman Castle   , residence of Federico II, the Tomb of Rotari and the complex of San Francesco, where the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of the Gargano is set up.
